To Poland’s and the rest of the world’s surprise drug usage dropped, most notably in the age group of 13-19,  HIV viral infections decrease dramatically, and the amount of people seeking help with drug addictions nearly doubled.  Not so surprisingly American along with Canadian media chooses to ignore these facts.

Sweet New Design for the Calendar!

Cool Eh?  A Spanish designer by the name of Oscar Diaz has modified the basic boring and bland calendar into a self updating day keeper that enhances ones perception of time not simply signaling it.

It uses the capillary action of ink to effortlessly reveal the accurate date, all that is required is to simply replace the bottle of ink at the beginning of each new month.  Basically there’s a thin strip of paper that is placed to show each date when the ink is absorbed by it every day.

The Dyson Air Multiplier Fan should not work, (its a giant fruit loop on a stand) but it does, Amazingly.  It works through drawing air from the base of the machine, forces it up into the loop amplifier and accelerates it through an annular aperture, pushing out a jet of air through the large loop.  Creating a smooth steady stream of air, that wont cut your finders off.

In 2007 Photographer Pieter Hugo took a trip to Nigeria, from the photo series “Hyena People of Nigeria”  Pieter took a ten-day trek in South Africa with a group of wandering minstrels and their animal companions: three hyenas, two pythons and four monkeys.

His body turned into his personal prison

He was a former martial arts enthusiast and engineering student who was paralysed after a car crash in 1983.  His body turned into a personal prison, he could only ask and scream for help in his head where no one could hear.  After receiving a correct diagnosis Rom Houbens was given a computer to help him communicate. Here are some of the first things he said;

“I was a witness to my own suffering as doctors and nurses tried to speak with me until they gave up all hope.”

“All that time I just literally dreamed of a better life. Frustration is too small a word to describe what I felt.”

Houbens remains in constant care at a facility near Brussels.
